October 22: Finding Sources

Session Preview

In this session we will learn how to search for sources on our topics of choice. We will discuss the databases that are available and how best to use them. Olga Hart (Senior Research Librarian, UC Libraries) will lead the workshop.

Assignment (due in class October 29)

Compose a bibliography with at least 15 sources, using the following databases:

  1. UC Library Catalog
  2. Google Scholar
  3. Academic Search Complete
  4. At least one other database

Note how you found each source. Locate and investigate your sources. Indicate the 5 sources that you think will be most important to your project and why you selected them.

Post your bibliography in the comments below. Please use appropriate MLA formatting. We will discuss the process of locating and evaluating sources in class on October 29.
